House Cents

Purchasing or selling a home can be an overwhelming experience but it doesn't have to be. I hope to demystify the process and give some insight into the daily workings of a real estate agent. And we'll have a little fun along the way. Let's make this whole house buying and selling thing a success for all! And did I mention that I played the ukulele? Not Hawaiian stuff (not that there's anything wrong with it). I play The Beatles on the uke! How weird is that!?

Please Please Me

Buyers and sellers want their real estate agents to attend to their every need and rightly so. We are licensed professionals trained and educated (continually) to work for our clients to get the job done. We make ourselves available evenings, weekends and even while on vacation (darn those pesky cell phones). And to top it off, we don't get paid for those long hours until we successfully close a deal between two people at totally cross purposes. The seller wants top dollar and the buyer wants bottom dollar. But I am not asking for sympathy; I knew the job was dangerous when I took it.

Buyers unfortunately have many complaints about our services but here is another perspective. While real estate agents are busy trying to please our buyers, many times our buyers are busy working with several agents. They mistakenly believe that they are increasing their chances of finding their dream home. In reality, they are doing just the opposite. Sticking with one real estate agent insures continuity; everyone gets to know each other very well when hunting together, which can be a real advantage when it comes to negotiations. Also, agents already have all the listings right at their fingertips via the multiple listing services.

So the next time you need to SELL YOUR HOME, know that you will be the most pleased with an agent that returns calls and is there to answer questions and takes the time to get to know you.

Also, the next time you are HOUSE HUNTING, just remember that your agent can show you any home, regardless of whose sign is in front. I think everyone will be pleased with the results.

About Me

My photo
Julie B
Homes and real estate have always, in one way or another been a part of my life. At a very young age I was introduced by my mother to historic homes around Kentucky, her home state. I remember wishing that I could run around and explore without that blasted tour guide. Then while I was in high school, "This Old House" was born. Couldn't get enough of it. Next, I went to Ohio University (decided to go there because of the great architecture:>) I started out as an art major then switched to interior design. Unfortunately, I dropped out to get married (big mistake) so my advisor suggested I try Real Estate. Took a course at the local community college. Boring!! I was a night class the the instructor droned on and on and all I could think about was "show me the houses!" My next step was to go back to school in earnest to get a degree in Architectural Interior design which was an engineering degree. I majored in historical restoration, finally getting back to my roots. To make a long story even longer, I finally got my Real Estate license and everything has finally come together.
